Internet dating is at a steady pace these days. Although not as popular as it used to be some sites are still thriving with interesting profiles and even more interesting pictures. The question is: How can you be successful at Internet dating?

1. TMI (Too Much information)

Too much information on your profile leaves nothing to the imagination and leaves the conversation bland when it's time to meet up. Putting just enough information about yourself in your profile such as hobbies and interests, can be great conversation starters and make for more exciting dates if the hobbies and interests are mutual.

2. High expectations

Of course every one should have high expectations but sometimes it gets in the way of good relationships. In the "What are you looking for " section or the "Describe your perfect mate" Section, put the qualities that you want your mate to have, but don't over do it. Being too high maintenance can also mean being alone and being too passive can mean settling for something less.

3. A picture is worth a thousand words

Online with most if not all of the sites these days, you can do web cam to web cam chat, but when you sign up, you are prompted to post a picture. It is best that you post a picture of yourself taken with a year. Most of the stories I have heard involves people posting pictures that are not themselves or old picture from high school or college even though they are in their mid to late 30s. There is somebody for everybody and if a few frogs pass you by because you don't have the features they like, it's ok, it gives your life enough room for your prince's grand entrance.

4. Be Careful

A lot of people get how to meet up with a date wrong. There is a process involved and it should be well though out and planned. Never meet for a first date at your house or theirs. Meeting for lunch once or twice or happy hour is better. Meet in a well lit public place and do not be afraid to ask questions. If you are not comfortable with your date picking you up, me him there. There's nothing wrong with thinking about your own safety and well-being. If you go on a date, make sure someone knows where you are. A family member, a friend or a neighbor should have a key to your place and all of the phone numbers you can be contacted on. Let them know that you are going out and to check on you at a certain time or you can contact them when the date is done so they know everything is ok.
